Edinburgh Pro14 match called off as 1872 Cup dates are announced
Edinburgh’s Guinness Pro14 match against Dragons next Monday has been called off.
An outbreak of Covid-19 at the Welsh club caused their weekend game with Glasgow to be postponed and now the Edinburgh match at Rodney Parade has followed suit.
A statement from the league said: “PRO14 Rugby can confirm that the round 7 Dragons versus Edinburgh game set to take place on Monday, November 23 has been postponed.
“Following advice from Public Health Wales, Dragons have taken the decision, with the full support of PRO14 Rugby, to isolate for 14 days and will not return to organised team training until later this week. This will mean there is not enough adequate preparation time to ensure players can return safely to full match intensity.”
Pro14 said the game will be rescheduled for early 2021.
A new date has been announced for Glasgow’s match against Dragons. The game will now take place at Scotstoun on Saturday, December 5 (7.15pm).
Dates and kick-off times have also been announced for the annual festive 1872 Cup matches between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The first part of the double-header will take place at Scotstoun on Sunday, December 27, kicking off at 3pm.
Edinburgh will then play host to the Warriors at BT Murrayfield on Saturday, January 2, again at 3pm.
Glasgow are in action again on Friday, January 8 when they host Benetton at Scotstoun (7.35pm). Edinburgh play in Italy the following day against Zebre in a game which will kick off at 1pm UK time.
