'Top-shelf save', Fans of both sides of the Old Firm and pundits hail Allan McGregor's save from Leigh Griffiths
Allan McGregor made a series of top-class saves in the first half to deny Celtic and keep the scoreline at 0-0 in the second Old Firm match of the season.
An early double save to deny his namesake Calum and then Odsonne Edouard was followed by a finger-tip push onto the post to deny Leigh Griffiths after 21 minutes.
And it’ the flying top-corner save that had fans on both sides of the Old Firm divide impressed, reluctantly or otherwise.
@ItsDaveeeee: “Unreal save by McGregor, if it weren't for him Celtic would be two or three up by now!
@AJThoms214: “McGregor had a wonder save from a Griff shot or we would be on top.”
@Goffee71: “Goalie smut... top-shelf save from McGregor.”
@William19555921: “Fantastic save by McGregor probs best save you'll see this weekend.”
@jamie_urey: “Imagine that McGregor save from Griffiths was made down south… Absolute world class save.”
@TheGMason: “Hits the post ref” McGregor Doesn’t want the credit for an unbelievable save apparently.”
Pundits were also impressed by the goalkeeper on his 400th start for Rangers, and 401st appearance.
"He’s got no right in saving that,” said former Scotland team-mate James McFadden on Sky Sports.
"The save he makes from Griffiths has to be up there with his top ones and he’s dug Rangers out of a hole so many times.,” said ex-Celtic defender Mark Wilson.
Speaking on Clyde One added: “That’s what wins you leagues, saves like that add up to points, and that’s the difference between an outstanding goalkeeper and a fragile goalkeeper that Celtic have.”
