They will be linked with a host of players and the it will all go quiet, there is, of course, the transfer saga where speculation drags on and on, and then other times, like we seen with Ross McCrorie's move to Aberdeen, where it comes out of the blue.
On Tuesday it was revealed by one outlet that Celtic could make a return for Motherwell playmaker David Turnbull, while reports in Italy suggested the club were also keen on a goalkeeper. Across the city, speculation has died down.

Rogic set for Celtic exit
Celtic’s Tom Rogic is heading for the exit door.
The Daily Mail report the Australian is in talks with a Qatari club over a £4m transfer and it could go through in the next 24 hours.
Rogic, who hasn’t featured this season, made more than 180 appearances for the club since signing in 2013, winning 13 trophies.
Leeds to make shock Kent bid?
Leeds United are planning to make a stunning £10m bid for Ryan Kent, report the Sun.
Marcelo Bielsa is said to be a huge fan of the Rangers winger and has previously tried to bring him to Elland Road twice.
Kent cost the Ibrox club £7m from Liverpool after a successful loan spell.

Lille player speaks on Morelos interest
Lille captain Jose Fonte has admitted the team don’t need Alfredo Morelos.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, the former Southampton man revealed he was content with the attacking options in place.
He said: "To be honest I think we are in good shape. We got the striker that we wanted in Jonathan David. We got the Turkish strker Burak Yilmaz. We have one or two young boys who have been with us a few years so in that aspect I think we are okay.
“So if another one comes and he brings the level up then we will be happy with that but I'm quite comfortable with the squad we have at the moment.”
A potential avenue for Celtic to move Boli Bolingoli on to has appeared to close.
French side Amiens were linked with the Parkhead outcast following his quarantine indiscretion.
However, the French club have completed the loan signing of Liverpool left-back Adam Lewis.
Neilson eyes three to four signings
Hearts boss Robbie Neilson could sign up to four new players before the window closes.
One of the priorities is to move on players to bring the size of the squad down.
In addition, Neilson is keen to add one, possibly two wingers, a midfielder and potentially a striker. But it is dependent on which players can be moved on.
Docherty nears exit
Greg Docherty’s Ibrox departure has moved a step closer.
The player underwent a medical ahead of his move from Rangers to Hull City on Tuesday afternoon, according to reports in England.
He is set to sign a three-year deal with Rangers netting £400,000.
