Celtic moved closer to Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening with a 2-1 win over St Mirren. The champions came from behind in a hard-fought victory with more football action this evening with Aberdeen, Motherwell and Rangers all in European action.

5. McGinn signs for Hibs
Hibs have confirmed the signing of midfielder Stephen McGinn. The former St Mirren captain has been training with the Easter Road side and has penned a one-year deal. He becomes the third McGinn brother to play for Hibs. (Various)

6. Accies trio return negative tests
The trio of Hamilton players who tested positive for Covid-19 have since returned negative tests. However they will miss the weekend’s match with Kilmarnock as per government guidelines which will see them self-isolate for 10 days. (Various)

7. Rangers injury blow
Rangers have been hit with the blow that influential midfielder Ryan Jack could miss up to four weeks of action, which would put him out of the Old Firm clash next month. The Scotland international limped out of the win over Dundee United at the weekend with a calf issue. With Joe Aribo also out it could intensify Rangers’ search for a midfielder. (Various)

It is only a matter of time before Hearts complete the signing of Mihai Popescu. The ex-St Mirren defender has all but agreed a deal and is set to self-isolate for 14 days on his arrival in Edinburgh due to government guidelines in place for people travelling from Romania. (Evening News)
