Fresh TWIST in Leeds United's pursuit of Rangers ace Ryan Kent involving £15m Manchester United star
The Ibrox side rejected an opening bid of £10million
Leeds United’s pursuit of Rangers ace Ryan Kent could rest on two possible transfers.
The Premier League side are keen on Udinese star Rodrigo De Paul. The Argentine can play wide or as an attacking midfielder.
According to reports in Italy, the Serie A side won't budge on their 35-40million valuation of the Argentina international.
Leeds are understood to be unwilling to pay such a fee for his signing, having already splashed out on Rodrigo from Valencia, centre-back duo Diego Llorente and Robin Koch, plus Helder Costa and Illan Meslier.
Already this summer they have had a £10million bid for Kent rejected by Rangers.
The Athletic’s Leeds correspondent Phil Hay confirms the club are still interested in the former Liverpool attacker but is unsure on whether they will make a second offer.
Instead, Leeds may have turned their attention to Manchester United’s £15million attacker Dan James.
“The Kent situation fascinates me because they did bid for him, and since then have done nothing, despite the fact that they are still interested,” Hay told The Athletic's Leeds United podcast.
“A bit like James, he’s a player that Bielsa really, really likes, but the fact that there hasn’t been any movement there and there hasn’t really been any attempt to move it on, again, makes me wonder if that is because they are wondering or suspecting if James is going to become available and if they have the choice of the two they would rather have him than they would Ryan Kent.”
