'Elegant player, neat touch' Fans react to Rangers' new South African midfielder Bongani Zungu
Supporters were delighted to finally see Bongani Zungu’s move to Ibrox finalised last night.
The midfielder joined Steven Gerrard’s side on a season-long loan, with an option to buy at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.
It was a move which fans – both of Rangers and the player – were delighted to see go through.
Replying to the announcement on @RangersFC Twitter account, @JbVundla warned: “South African twitter about to take over this handle. Brace for impact.”
And comments were plentiful, and complimentary.
@Neph_OSM: “If I was a Rangers fan I'd be excited, Zungu is a gem.”
@TheRealPaniki: “Zungu must be made captain and take all set pieces, penalties included. Request from the entire South Africa.”
@shuggs_luggs: “Hopefully this boy hits the ground running grabbing a shirt every week to fill that gap between midfield and attack.”
@Careerkick2: “By next week you will have over 1M followers... Great move on that Zungu boy, he's very good!”
@SUBS10111: “Elegant player.. flippin neat touch. Football made simple.”
@MotsoAphi: “You bought a star midfield maestro. I'm glad he joined our team, we've been struggling a lot in that midfield department, Zungu will offer us a lot.”
@Footballstewart: “Unreal deal for a player that should walk into the starting eleven.”
@TeamLove88: “Great Signing for Rangers, you guys should make him captain and build a sculpture of him outside the stadium. He will be a club legend.”
@CF3Loyal: “I’m excited! Clearly a player that supporters know very little about but he seems to be very popular and highly rated in his homeland. If he helps us win the league then he’ll go down in history with his new teammates.”
