Scotland hero Oli McBurnie sends pundit Michael Stewart brutal one-word tweet after criticism
Scotland star Oli McBurnie let pundit Michael Stewart what he thought of him with a terse tweet following the famous penalty shootout win in Serbia to reach Euro 2020.
The striker has come in for criticism from the ex-Hearts and Hibs midfielder for his performances for the national team.
In September 2019 Stewart said Sheffield United striker McBurnie wasn’t the answer to Scotland’s forward issues, something he reiterated last night.
"For a £20million striker he can’t run, he can’t hold up the ball, he doesn’t link well, he doesn’t shoot,” he wrote in a newspaper column. “He’s simply not strong enough to play that role.”
McBurnie, who scored one of the five penalties in the shootout, tweeted Stewart with a one-word post, calling him a “helmet”.
The 24-year-old has suffered plenty of criticism during his Scotland career which only heightened following remarks which were caught on camera.
However, he is now part of the team which qualified for a finals tournament.
