Hearts agree terms to sign Gary Mackay-Steven as winger arrives in Edinburgh
Scotland international winger Gary Mackay-Steven has verbally agreed terms to join Hearts and will undergo a medical later today.
He is poised to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract provided the medical does not show up anything unexpected.
The 30-year-old has arrived in Edinburgh and is ready to commit his future to Hearts after leaving New York City as a free agent.
Capped twice by Scotland, Mackay-Steven was wanted back at former club Aberdeen but is ready to continue his career in the Championship at Tynecastle Park.
Hearts wanted to sign a winger and a striker during the January transfer window and the capture of Mackay-Steven will add genuine quality in wide areas.
Formerly of Liverpool, Fulham, Airdrie, Dundee United, Celtic and Aberdeen, he brings pace and flair in attacking areas.
Hearts signed wingers Josh Ginnelly, Jordan Roberts and Elliott Frear last summer but manager Robbie Neilson had spoken of the need to add reinforcements in that position.
