Celtic defender Shane Duffy flies home from Dubai training camp - reports
Celtic defender Shane Duffy has flown home from the club’s training camp in Dubai.
The on-loan Republic of Ireland international was spotted boarding a flight at Dubai Airport which has landed at Heathrow this morning.
The 29-year-old was permitted to return home to deal with a personal and family issue, according to the Scottish Sun.
Duffy, who has endured a difficult time at Celtic since making the loan move from Brighton, appeared as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday following the red card to Nir Bitton.
He has struggled to nail down a regular first team place in Neil Lennon’s side, but with Bitton facing a suspension, and Christopher Jullien ruled out for an extended period with a knee injury, Duffy is likely to be required for the visit of Hibs on Monday.
Celtic are expected to sign a new centre-back in January with Lennon confirming: “It is an area where we will probably look to bring someone in.”
