The 50p depicts Christopher Robin, and is the second to be released in the nine coin collection.

9 coins to collect

This latest release comes following the launch of the Winnie the Pooh 50p in September, and ahead of the Piglet coin, which is due to be made available in November.

The 50p depicts Christopher Robin coming down some stairs, with Winnie the Pooh in his hand. It is illustrated using a watercolour technology the Mint developed for the first coin in the collection.

The coins have been released a century after the birth of the real Christopher Robin, the son of Winnie the Pooh author AA Milne, who inspired the popular stories.

A total of nine coins will be released, with the collection celebrating the much-loved characters behind the classic tales.

The 2020 series already features Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin and Piglet. The remaining six coins will follow over the next two years, and should include illustrations of fellow characters such as Tigger and Eeyore.

Where can I buy them?

The coins can be purchased online from the Royal Mint, with only the Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin designs currently available to buy.

A brilliant uncirculated version is priced at £10 per coin, or £30 for the complete three coin 2020 series.

A colour version of each coin is slightly more expensive, at £20 each, or £60 for all three.

The Royal Mint has also released a silver proof edition of the coins, costing £67.50 each, or £202.50 for Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin and Piglet together.

A limited edition gold proof Christopher Robin 50p coin is also available for a cost of £1,125. However, only 525 have been made, so collectors will have to move fast.
