'Devastated' - Video shows fire destroying Fife nursery garden outside Pitreavie Primary School in Dunfermline during late night incident as fundraiser launched
A fundraiser has been launched after a nursery garden in Fife was destroyed by fire last night.
Two fire appliances were called out at around 11:50pm on Friday night to tackle the blaze outside Pitreavie Primary School in Dunfermline.
Video footage of the fire has been shared on social media with large flames and smoke visible from a nearby street.
A fire service spokesperson confirmed the fire was extinguished by about 12:45am.
A number of locals said the fire damage will be “devastating” for the children who use the outdoor learning space at the nursery.
A Gofundme page has already raised more than £1,000 to help the nursery staff rebuild the area.
A post on the fundraising page reads: “On the night of 30th October, the Pitreavie Nursery Gardens were devastatingly destroyed by a fire.
“The staff have worked tirelessly to provide an outdoor learning space for the children and in a second it has been destroyed.”
Police have been contacted for more details.
There are not thought to be any injuries as a result of last night’s incident.
