What is Men in Kilts about?

Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish’s new travel show explores the beauty and dramatic landscapes of Scotland.

Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham takes the Scots actors, who play Jamie Fraser and Dougal Mackenzie in the time-travelling Outlander series, all around the country, exploring everything it has to offer.

Their aim is to educate viewers - and themselves - about the rich history of their homeland, visiting battle sites and other iconic landmarks across the country.

Men in Kilts was actually the brainchild of Heughan - he has always been vocal about his love for his home country - who produced the show alongside McTavish and Heughan’s friend Alex Norouzi.

The show is produced for American network Starz, which is also behind the ever-popular Outlander, based on Diana Gabaldon’s novels.

Heughan and McTavish, who are real-life pals, have also written a book together called Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other.

Where was Men in Kilts filmed?

Last year, the duo were spotted filming the docuseries in various Scottish locations after it was put on hold during lockdown.

Heughan and McTavish were seen filming the show in Fife, doing some fishing on a boat in the East Neuk village of Pittenweem.

Heughan also shared a clip on his Instagram account as he crossed the Queensferry Bridge, and he was spotted again in Edinburgh’s Old Town by eagle-eyed fans.

The exciting trailer for the programme reveals that the duo visit Glencoe and the site of the Battle of Culloden - a place which features heavily in the Outlander series.

When is Men in Kilts released?

Starz likes to keep fans guessing, and there is currently no definitive date for when the series will be released.

However, a clip posted to the official Men in Kilts Twitter account states that it is coming in “early 2021”.

That means the show could drop any day now - especially now the official trailer has been released.

How many episodes are there?

The travel docuseries comes in eight parts, and is produced by Sony Pictures.

Each episode will be only half an hour long, enough to give fans plenty of time to view their favourite Outlander stars exploring Scotland, and enough to keep them coming back for more.

How can I watch it?

While Men in Kilts will be released on Starz in the US, fans in the UK are in luck, as the series will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

If that’s not enough, Outlander seasons one to five are also available to watch on Amazon Prime.
