Data released by the Scottish Government breaks down the number of positive covid-19 cases per 100,000 people, according to neighbourhood.
This data is from December 11 and December 17.
North Ayrshire has become the worst hit area with 196.7 cases per 100,000 population, while at the bottom of the scale, and not included on this list, sits the Orkney Islands and the Shetland Islands which didn’t record a single new case between them.

1. North Ayrshire
This area had 196.7 cases per 100,000 population between December 11 and December 17. In total, 265 new cases were recorded here over the course of the last seven days.

2. East Lothian
East Lothian recorded 167.1 cases per 100,000 in the last seven days. In total, 179 positive cases were recorded in the area.

3. Aberdeen City
Aberdeen City recorded 157.0 cases per 100,000. In total this area recorded 359 positive cases in the last seven days.

4. East Ayrshire
156.5 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in East Ayrshire per 100,000 population between December 11 and December 17. This area saw a total of 191 new cases in this time frame.
