Scotland’s tiered system of coronavirus restrictions are to be reviewed this week.

Each region of the country is assigned to a tier numbered from 0 to 4 with measures tightening with each level.

The measures aren’t dissimilar to the tiered restrictions which were introduced in England and have since been substituted for a national lockdown.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has already rejected the need for a second lockdown north of the border, but said it may be necessary to introduce local travel restrictions and the closure of bars and restaurants.

Ms Sturgeon is to give an update on the status of each region and the tier of restrictions that they have been assigned.

When is the lockdown review?

The first review of these restrictions is set to take place on Tuesday 10 November, and reviews will then take place on a weekly basis.

The results of these reviews will come into force the following Friday.

Ms Sturgeon is scheduled to announce any change to restrictions to the public from 2.20pm on Tuesday.

Could Covid-19 restrictions be eased?

Speaking on Monday 9 November Ms Sturgeon said it was “highly unlikely” that measures would be eased at the review on Tuesday.

The First Minister said she “would not expect areas to go down a level" and that "careful judgement" would be applied in the case of whether any regions were to be put under stricter conditions.

What tier of restrictions is my region under?

No regions have been placed under the lowest or highest level 0 and level 4 restrictions.

Level 1: Highland, Moray, Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland

Level 2: Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen, Fife, the Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, Argyll & Bute and also Perth & Kinross and Angus

Level 3: Inverclyde, East and West Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, and the City of Glasgow; South Ayrshire, East Ayrshire and North Ayrshire; Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire; The City of Edinburgh, Midlothian, West Lothian and East Lothian
