Boris Johnson: Prime Minister releases video after being told to self isolate
The Prime Minister has released a video saying that he has been ‘pinged’ by Test and Trace and will be self isolating for 14 days.
The video, released on Mr Johnson’s Twitter feed also said that: “It doesn’t matter that we were all doing social distancing.
"It doesn’t matter that I’m fit as a butchers dog, feel great, so many people do in my circumstances, and actually it doesn’t matter that I’ve had the disease and I’m bursting with antibodies.
"We’ve got to interrupt the spread of the disease and one of the ways we can do that now is by self isolating for 14 days when you get contacted by NHS Test and Trace, and I do it with a high heart and full of optimism and confidence because don’t forget, we not only have this technique for interrupting the transition of Covid, but we not also have two gigantic boxing gloves with which to wallop our foe into submission.”
Mr Johnson received the notice to self isolate after Tory MP Lee Anderson tested positive for coronavirus.
The Prime Minister had held a meeting with Mr Anderson in Downing Street three days ago, where they had also had breakfast together.
Mr Anderson released a statement after his positive test explaining he felt fine and his concerns were for his wife, Sinead.
He said: “My wife and I both tested positive.
“I feel absolutely fine and my biggest concern is my wife who is in the shielded group.
“But we are both feeling good.”
